Introduction of China Import and Export Fair
China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, was established in the spring of 1957. Co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of PRC and the People’s Government of Guangdong Province and organized by China Foreign Trade Centre, it is held every spring and autumn in Guangzhou, China. As a comprehensive international trading event with the longest history, the largest scale, the most complete exhibit variety, the largest buyer attendance, the most diverse buyer source country and the greatest business turnover in China, Canton Fair is hailed as China’s No.1 Fair and the barometer of China’s foreign trade.
As the window, epitome and symbol of China’s opening up and an important platform for international trade cooperation, Canton Fair has withstood various challenges and never been interrupted in the past 65 years. It has been successfully held for 133 sessions and established trade relations with more than 229 countries and regions around the world. The accumulated export volume has amounted to about USD 1.5 trillion and the total number of overseas buyers attending the Canton Fair onsite and online has exceeded 10 million. The Fair has effectively promoted trade connections and friendly exchanges between China and the world.
Overview of the last session
The 133rd Spring Canton Fair in 2023 attracted 35,000 domestic and foreign buyers from more than 220 countries and regions to register and participate in the exhibition. The cumulative number of visitors to the fair exceeded 2.83 million. The on-site export transaction volume of the Canton Fair was US$21.69 billion and the online export transaction volume was US$3.42 billion. US dollar hits record high.
As of May 4, a total of overseas purchasers from 229 countries and regions have participated in the 133rd Spring Canton Fair online and offline. Among them, 129,006 overseas purchasers from 213 countries and regions participated offline. A total of 55 industrial and commercial organizations organized groups to participate in the conference, including the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce, the French China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Mexico China Business and Technology Chamber of Commerce. More than 100 leading multinational companies organized buyers to participate in the conference, including Walmart from the United States, Auchan from France, Metro from Germany, etc. There were 390,574 overseas buyers participating in the conference online.
Overview of the 134th Autumn Canton Fair 2023
Exhibition time
The 134th Canton Fair is scheduled to be opened on October 15th, 2023.
The onsite exhibition:
Phase 1: October 15th to 19th
Phase 2: October 23rd to 27th
Phase 3: October 31st to November 4th
Time for booth dismantling and setup: October 20th to 22nd 2023, October 28th to 30th, 2023.
* The online exhibition: the online platform service time will be extended for a period of about 6 months (from September 16th, 2023 to March 15th, 2024 ).
